A Little More About Me...
A Little More About Me...
If life sometimes feels heavy or overwhelming, you are not alone. So many of us are going through our days feeling overly-stressed, isolated, and simply exhausted. But this doesn't mean that you're somehow failing. It means you're human!
When working with me, you can expect that I will support you through the tough moments, and I will also celebrate wins alongside you! My passion for this work lies within the privilege of being there for you, human to human.
My journey began when I attended the University of South Dakota, studying psychology and interdisciplinary sciences. I then went on to attend graduate school at the University of Jamestown, receiving my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Throughout my graduate studies, I worked in a community mental health setting as well as in a private group practice. Both of these environments allowed me to expand my clinical skillset and garnered diverse experiences. I am always in awe of the remarkable strength and resilience of the people who walk through my door. I learn just as much from my clients as they do from me!
Upon completing graduate school, I began working in a group practice where I dove into trauma-focused care, couples therapy, and supporting clients who have experienced abuse. I received specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and this is a modality that I use with many of my clients. Other areas in which I have received training include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
When I am not in my therapy chair, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and visiting new places, exercising, and reading. I am an avid lover of coffee, so I also enjoy trying out every coffee establishment that I come across! I have found that moving my body, keeping my mind stimulated, and practicing gratitude have become significant pieces of who I am, not just as a therapist, but as a human!
